You can move a paid plan between monthly and yearly billing without changing your tier. When the switch takes effect depends on the direction and your payment provider.
Switch your billing cycle
- Open billing in settings.
- Choose your current plan with the other billing cycle, monthly or yearly.
- Confirm the change, and complete checkout if you are prompted.
When the change takes effect
- Monthly to yearly. Applied straight away and prorated. You are charged for the year now, less credit for the unused part of your current month, and yearly billing starts at once. This behaves like an upgrade.
- Yearly to monthly. Scheduled for the end of your current paid period. You keep yearly billing until then, and monthly billing begins at the next renewal. This behaves like a downgrade, so you may see it described that way at checkout.
What happens to your AI credits
Your credit allowance follows the new cycle:
- Moving to yearly grants your full annual allowance up front, at the start of the new term.
- Moving to monthly tops up a portion each cycle, roughly a twelfth of the yearly amount.
See AI credits and limits for how allowances and expiry work.
How your provider handles it
- Paddle updates your subscription in place, with proration.
- Paystack handles the switch as a new checkout. You start checkout for the new cycle rather than changing in place.
Which provider you use depends on your country. See payment methods.
