If a payment fails, your plan does not end immediately. Braandly gives you a short grace period to fix the payment before anything changes. This guide explains what happens and what to do.
When a payment fails
If a renewal or charge fails, your subscription is marked past due and Braandly emails you. During this time:
- You keep your plan and its features for a grace period of about 5 days.
- Your provider retries the charge automatically.
- You get an email asking you to update your payment so the charge can go through, with the date the next retry is due.
The grace period is roughly 5 days and is subject to change. Update your payment method as soon as you can to avoid losing your plan.
Fix a failed payment
How you update your card depends on your provider:
- Paddle. Open the billing portal from your billing settings, update your card, and let the retry run.
- Paystack. There is no card-update portal. Start the checkout again from your billing settings and pay with the new card.
If your card is expiring, Braandly sends a heads-up email before it becomes a problem. This card-expiry reminder is available on Paddle.
What you will see in the app
Your billing settings show a status banner so you always know where you stand:
- Past due shows a reminder to update your payment method.
- Cancelled shows how many days of access you have left.
- Will not renew shows that access continues until the end of the current period.
An active subscription in good standing shows no banner.
What happens if it isn't fixed
If the payment is not resolved during the grace period, your plan is downgraded to the free Starter plan. Your account and content stay, but your limits drop to Starter's level. To restore your plan, update your payment and subscribe again.
Cancelled and paused subscriptions
- Cancelled. You keep your plan until the end of the period you already paid for, then move to Starter.
- Paused. Your plan's features are turned off while it is paused. To resume, reactivate from your billing settings or contact support if you do not see the option.
