Export and PDF download issues

If an export or download will not complete, the fix depends on what you are exporting. This guide covers guideline PDFs, brand kits, and the free image tools.

Guideline PDF and brand kit exports

Publish the guideline first. You can only export a PDF or brand kit from a published guideline. If the export button is disabled or you are asked to publish first, set the guideline to published, then export. If Publish itself seems to do nothing, make sure the guideline has been saved at least once, since a brand-new, unsaved guideline cannot be published yet.

Give large guidelines a moment. A PDF is generated on Braandly's servers, and a long guideline with many images takes longer to build. A very large guideline can time out and fail to produce a PDF. If that happens, trim unused blocks or oversized images and try again.

Check your images. In a PDF, a broken or very slow image is skipped and leaves a gap rather than failing the whole export. In a brand kit, a logo that cannot be fetched is left out of the ZIP. Make sure your images are fully uploaded before exporting.

Stay signed in. Exports need an active session. If you left the editor open for a long time, your session may have expired, giving a failed or blank download. Refresh, make sure you are signed in, and export again.

If the PDF downloads but looks different from the editor, that is expected and covered in my brand guidelines PDF looks different from the screen.

What the brand kit contains

The brand kit is a .zip file with your logo variations, a colours file with the hex and RGB values, your typography details, and a short readme. If a logo is missing from the ZIP, it could not be downloaded at export time. Publish and export again once the asset is in place.

Exporting without publishing

If you need something before the guideline is ready to publish, you can still export the guideline as a PNG image, which does not require publishing. The QR code, copy-link, and share options do require a published guideline, since they point to its public link.

Image tool downloads

The image converter and compressor run in your browser, so their downloads do not depend on your connection to Braandly. If a download does not start:

  • Check that your browser is not blocking the download or a pop-up.
  • Make sure the file finished processing before you clicked download.
  • Note the batch limit is 10 images at a time in these tools.

Still failing?

If an export consistently fails, contact support with what you were exporting (a guideline PDF, brand kit, or tool output), the brand or guideline name, and any error message.
