This is a reference for the file formats Braandly accepts, both for uploading assets and for the free image tools. If an upload is being rejected, check that your file is one of the supported types and within the size limit.
Formats you can upload
The full set of formats the uploader accepts is:
| Format | Extension |
|---|---|
| JPEG | .jpg, .jpeg |
| PNG | .png |
| SVG | .svg |
| GIF | .gif |
| WebP | .webp |
| BMP | .bmp |
| TIFF | .tif, .tiff |
.pdf |
Where the accepted formats differ
Individual upload spots narrow that list to what makes sense there:
| Where you upload | Accepts |
|---|---|
| Profile picture | PNG, JPEG, WebP |
| Brand asset and guideline images | PNG, JPEG, SVG, WebP, GIF |
| Brink images | PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP |
| Task attachments | Images and PDF (up to 3 per task) |
So if a format works in one place but not another, the field is limited on purpose.
Upload size limit
Image uploads are capped at 2 MB per file. Braandly compresses most photos automatically before upload, so larger images often fit under the limit on their own. Compression is skipped for SVG and GIF, so those must be under 2 MB already. If a file is still too large, shrink it first.
Use the free image compressor to bring a large image under the 2 MB limit before uploading.
Formats the image tools accept
The free image tools run in your browser and accept a different range of inputs, because their job is to convert and compress.
Image converter. Reads the upload formats above, apart from TIFF, plus HEIC and HEIF (the format iPhones often use) and JFIF. It can output JPEG, PNG, WebP, BMP, and ICO (favicon) files. It also builds multi-size ICO favicons (16, 32, 48, and 64 px), turns PDF pages into images, and has ready-made export presets for common platforms. You can convert up to 10 files at once.
Image compressor. Accepts PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, and BMP, and outputs JPEG, PNG, or WebP. It compresses up to 10 files at once.
Both tools work entirely on your device, so nothing is uploaded to Braandly while you use them, and you do not need to sign in.
Video and other files
Braandly is built for images and brand assets, not video. Video files are not accepted as uploads or task attachments. If you need to share a video, host it elsewhere and link to it.
