Brand approval is what makes a brand fully functional in Braandly, including the ability to make it public. This guide explains the approval statuses, how approval happens, and how it differs from a brand's status and from verification.

The approval statuses

A brand's approval moves through these states:

  • Not requested the brand has not been submitted for approval yet.
  • Pending you have requested approval and it is being reviewed.
  • Approved the brand is approved and fully functional.
  • Rejected the request was declined. Contact support to resolve it.

You can see the current status in your brand settings, shown as an Approved, Pending, or Unapproved badge.

Approval status vs brand status

These are two separate things, and it helps to keep them apart:

  • Approval status is about review: not requested, pending, approved, or rejected.
  • Brand status is the brand's operational state: active, pending, suspended, or draft.

A brand can be active but not yet approved, or approved but set to draft while you work on it. Both need to be in the right state for everything to work.

How a brand gets approved

There are two paths, depending on your plan:

  • Instant approval. On paid plans, brands are approved instantly, either the moment you create them or as soon as you request approval. If you are working inside a workspace whose owner is on a paid plan, brands there can be approved instantly too.
  • Regular approval. On the free plan, you request approval and the Braandly team reviews it before it is granted.

To request approval on the free plan, open the brand's settings and use Request approval. You cannot request approval for an archived brand, and if a request is already pending or the brand is already approved, there is nothing more to do. If a brand was rejected, contact support to sort it out.

Claiming a brand with its official email address also approves it automatically, and moves the brand into your workspace as part of the claim.

Approval depends on your plan and is subject to change. Paid plans get instant approval; the free plan goes through a review. Check your current plan's benefits in plans and pricing.

Why approval matters

An approved brand is fully functional. Until a brand is approved, some actions are blocked, including making the brand public. If an option is greyed out with a note about approval, request approval first.

Approval vs verification

Approval and verification are separate:

  • Approval unlocks full functionality and visibility for the brand.
  • Verification confirms you own the brand and adds a trust signal. It is requested separately, using the brand's official email, and is a different process from approval.

How quickly verification is granted depends on your plan: it is instant on Pro and Ultimate, granted at a basic level on Plus, and reviewed on the free plan. A brand can be approved without being verified, and the two are managed separately in your brand settings.
